St Oswald's Church, Ashbourne, is one of the grandest churches in Derbyshire with a fine array of alabaster tombs.

Bakewell parish church, Bakewell, Derbyshire, is built on the foundations of a Saxon church and includes some Norman sections.

Chinley 'new' Chapel, Derbyshire, is a beautiful early nonconformist chapel. Founded by William Bagshawe, the 'Apostle of the Peak', and John Wesley preached here.

The Church at Hathersage, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, stands close to an ancient Danish settlement and is linked to the Eyre family. Little John - of Robin Hood fame - is said to be buried here.

Ilam Church, Staffordshire, is the burial place of St Bertram and a place of pilgrimage. A lovely church with some Saxon parts. Close to Ilam Hall, once home of the Watts Russell and Port families.

Tideswell Church, Derbyshire, is known as the 'Cathedral of the Peak' because it is the largest and most beautiful church in the area. It has several fine carved tombs.

Wirksworth Church, Derbyshire, has important and impressive Saxon carvings. Betti the Mercian monk may have been buried here, as are the Gell family and Anthony Lowe

Youlgrave or Youlgreave Church, Derbyshire, is one of the finest churches in the Peak District. The tombs of Thomas Cockayne, Sir John Rossington and Roger Rooe are especially fine.
